Message of the hour from userlame.com:
Look, we trade every day out there with hustlers, deal-makers, shysters,
con-men. That's the way businesses get started. That's the way this
country was built.

I got a friggin lot accomplished this weekend. I worked on the new version of this site. I spent many, many hours doing so. I think it's time for me to get some sleep now. I have to work tomorrow. Whoopie.

Well, if I'm not gonna get work on this site done on the weekends when I should, by gumfrey I'm gonna get it done when I should be sleeping.
Board, thread, and reply objects are nearing completion. Few more things to get implemented and working there, then it's on to messages, members, profiles, and then to the new stuff.
God PHP5 is nice.

I need to find some good video editing software for linux. I'm using dvgrab to get video off the camcorder but I need a better way to edit. At any rate, I grabbed
a few stills [userlame.com] at least from some of the more interesting moments during my fight. There should be more soon and some videos too. Content is gonna be way easier to add if I ever finish this stupid site. I need to do that.
But at any rate,
go see a few pics of my first kickboxing match [userlame.com].
nice pics! i like the cartoon beforehand better.

That's what this weekend is about. I don't have plans this weekend, and I'm broke as a joke, so I'm actually gonna get some work done. Woohoo! I'll also be preparing myself for Wednesday night. I'm gonna be
kickboxing [cenobiteproductions.com].

Videos will be posted.

Well, the fight's over. It was alright -- went the full 3 rounds. Pretty boring fight though. There was hardly anything for decent blows dealt either way. The judges called it a draw. I'll post up vids/pics once a) my roommate comes home with the footage and b) I figure out some video editing in linux.
After the fight, I felt like crap. I had eaten not 10 minutes before leaving to go to the fight (I was planning on eating earlier but I wasn't cooking). I was so damn drained afterwards I got really, really sick. I left the place shortly after, came home and puked...a lot...and felt lots better.
It'll be at least a few weeks before I fight again. I was in no shape for that. But it was fun.

So today I was finally able to get a hard drive for the desktop. It's been out of commission for a month and a half now.

Problem was, it's an SATA hard drive and I (stupidly) gave away my only cable since I didn't need it at the time.
Well, I didn't feel like waiting for a $5 cable to ship so I figured I'd just bite the bullet and pick one up from a real store. I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, and CompUSA and
no one had a stupid SATA cable.

Right before I gave it up I decided to try this store I drive by a lot
Midwest Computers [midwest-computers.com]. They sell custom PCs, Apple stuff, cell phones...I figured a cable in there is gonna be $25 or something. But I went in and this nice sales dude came out (they don't really have items on display or anything -- it looked like a cell phone store)...I asked if they just sold cables and he wanted to know what I needed. I told him, he went in the back, (while he was gone I saw a packaged cable on a rack on the wall -- looked spensive), and brought me out a nice little cable in a plastic bag like you get with a hard drive. Gave it to me for 2 bucks.
Just wanted to pass the word. There are cool computer shops left. I'll definitely check that place out again.

then I saw this on
slashdot [slashdot.org] this morning. It made me laugh.
June 22, 2000 (from
http://www.inertramblings.com/archives/000439.html):
America Online: A sucker born every minute...
According to a corporate press release dated June 16, 2000, America Online has surpassed the 23 million member mark. Founded in 1985, AOL has been a household name to novice computer users worldwide. Unfortunately, many of these novices don't know that they're only seeing a small portion of the Internet and are being limited by AOL's proprietary and archaic interface.
Now, it's fairly safe to make the assumption that at least a quarter of AOL's 23 million customers are simply short-term users along for the free trial or jumping from service to service looking for the best deal. And, using that same line of thinking, roughly half of those 17.25 million remaining customers are probably smart enough to see AOL for what it really is and cancel their service in a desperate fit of fight or flight.
That leaves approximately 8.63 million customers that use AOL as their primary Internet Service Provider, give or take a random three quarter million people at any given time signing up or canceling. With this in mind, and approximately 7.88 million minutes in AOL's 15 year history, this proves that a sucker really is born every minute.

...But I'm still here. I am a part-time psycho-path. That job, can get a little hectic at times. But I took a vacation and decided to come back and visit. So um, yeah...Userlame....Synnove person...Are you two still part of that SG place?
Awesome. I'm still here. I don't think Synnove visits here anymore. She last logged in in January. I'm no longer a member of SG though I may join again when I have some money. But hey, feel free to hang around this place. The site is going to be going through big changes soon. Lots of features and new stuffs.
You haven't missed much around here.

Go read
this [ishmael.com]. Then go buy
Mr. Quinn's books [newtribalventures.com]. I highly recommend. If I could afford it, I'd buy lots and lots of copies of
Ishmael and give them away.

Hey hey~
I'm new to the board, but I'm going to con all my xanga bloggers here so I can spice this board up--and spice it up we will....
For a lil background on me, I'm 25--from Milwaukee, but living in Madison. I have a decent job, or what I consider 'good'.
I'm very much into metal music, and I kickbox to stay in shape. I own an Olde English Bulldogge, and he's my pride and joy. His name is Vito. I have a shit ton of ink on me including my neck. I just got my lip pierced the other day, and I like it--minus the food stuck in it--but I'm a clean person...for the most part.
Thats about it, and I'll post more in the coming days // weeks // whatever. Starting tomorrow I'm going to get all the xanga people over here....I just have to familiarize myself with this board first....
I'm eatin a sandwich. If that isn't entertainment I dunno what is.
I probably dunno what is.

So...I happened to go to look at
Adam Sessler's website [adamsessler.com]. And um...it's not there. It appears to have been defaced (due to some silly things pasted into the page sources?) by "RPG."
So they took the time to deface the site and remove the index page as a "no charge improvement." Personally, I think a better no charge improvement would have been to notify the site admin that "hey, this stuff is on your page and anyone could deface your site right now." But hey, whadoIknow.

Well...ho-ly crap. Today has actually been......GOOD! I got a call this morning...got me a job interview! Woo! Got my state tax return! Woo! Decided to screw around and see if I could get wireless+wpa working in linux (I've been trying for some time)...AND IT FINALLY WORKED! (I'm going to write up a mini-howto or something on the tech boards...I know a lot of people have problems getting this to work) [ed: no longer using WPA, open wireless+VPN is serving my needs better] Plus I played a game of darts against the stupid friggin dart board that always, ALWAYS beats me...AND I WON! (that's right...bullseye followed by a double bullseye to win the match)
Things have been...dare I say...GOOD today!!!!
Now...something HAS to go wrong. I just hope it doesn't overtake the good.
Wow, I used caps a lot.
