Message of the hour from userlame.com:
It took a while to surface, but it appears that a long-distance credit card
may have saved a U.S. Army unit from heavy casualties during the Grenada
military rescue/invasion. Major General David Nichols, Air Force ... said
the Army unit was in a house surrounded by Cuban forces. One soldier found
a telephone and, using his credit card, called Ft. Bragg, N.C., telling Army
officiers there of the perilous situation. The officers in turn called the
Air Force, which sent in gunships to scatter the Cubans and relieve the unit.

There will be a period of scheduled downtime for the site today at around 5pm in order to upgrade power. Finally there will be a UPS between up and disasters. The site should only be down briefly, though there may be a few hiccups through that time as the servers and network devices are moved. There will be about a 45 second interruption in all services. The website will experience a slightly longer downtime as the server is moved, and there will be multiple ~5 second outages as failovers pick up.
On a side note, this will be a good test for the failover setup. Hopefully it works as planned.

Part one is complete. Failover worked as expected, however it was somewhat slow to pick up. It's due to the amount of work the filter conf scripts have to do and the slow processor. I should find a better way to work with that.
On to the second part. Hopefully this goes as smoothly.

Part two is complete. The failover daemons appear to have done their jobs smashingly and there was only a brief interruption in service. There will next be a complete interruption as critical network devices are moved to better power.

Ok, everything seems to be back to normal. Let me know if you find anything funky. Pft...like anyone is reading this.
